Dr. Amrita Krishnamurthy received her bachelor's degree from the University of California, Berkeley. For her medical training, she attended the University of California, Davis School of Medicine. She completed her internship and residency in internal medicine at Stanford University before coming to New York Presbyterian Hospital – Weill Cornell Medical Center for her cardiovascular disease fellowship.
