Andrew D. Posner

Dr. Posner is a board-certified, fellowship-trained orthopaedic surgeon specializing in sports medicine at NewYork-Presbyterian/Lower Manhattan Hospital and Weill Cornell Medical College. He also serves as Assistant Director of the New York Downtown Center for Sports Medicine.

Dr. Posner provides individualized and compassionate care to patients of all ages and activity levels – from young athletes and weekend warriors to those managing degenerative conditions or musculoskeletal trauma. His practice focuses on complex problems of the knee, shoulder, and elbow, with extensive experience in arthroscopic rotator cuff repair, shoulder instability surgery, shoulder replacement, knee arthroscopy, ACL reconstruction, meniscus repair, cartilage restoration, and elbow ulnar collateral ligament reconstruction (Tommy John surgery). He is also experienced in treating upper and lower extremity fractures.

Dr. Posner earned his undergraduate degree from Vanderbilt University, graduating cum laude, and his M.D. from the University of Maryland School of Medicine. He completed his orthopaedic residency at Albany Medical Center, where he served as chief resident and helped care for athletes at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and Siena College. He then completed an orthopaedic sports medicine fellowship at the prestigious Kerlan-Jobe Orthopaedic Clinic in Los Angeles, serving as an assistant team physician for the Los Angeles Dodgers, Los Angeles Angels, Los Angeles Galaxy, Anaheim Ducks, Rugby Football Club Los Angeles, Pepperdine University, and multiple local colleges and high schools. His experience caring for elite athletes shapes the same high level of care he brings to every patient.

He remains active in research, having authored numerous peer-reviewed publications, book chapters, and abstracts, and continues to present at national orthopaedic meetings and conferences. Dr. Posner is a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and the American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine.
