Dr. Sands earned his Bachelor of Science degree from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, where he became interested in structure, function and biomechanics. After earning his medical degree from New York Medical College, he completed a surgical internship at St. Luke's Roosevelt Medical Center and an orthopaedic residency at Lenox Hill Hospital.
