He performed the first ambulatory, outpatient Greenlight laser prostatectomy in New York and New Jersey in 2003.He is a frequent commentator on television and in newspapers and magazines. Dr. Choi has been extensively published in leading medical journals on therapeutic research such as gene therapy, male and female voiding dysfunction, and Greenlight Laser surgery. He is one of the founding members for the International GreenLight Laser User Physician Panel (IGLU), a group of nine physicians from around the world chosen to develop a universal training recommendation and surgical technique to improve clinical outcomes, and to study surgical outcomes for the new GreenLight Laser surgery.He is a board member of Asian Pacific Prostate Society and the past president of Association of Korean American Medical Graduates. He is also a member of the American Urological Association, Endourology Society, Engineering and Urology Society.
