About Camila F Pereira-Eshraghi, MD

My interest in pediatric endocrinology started while I was in medical school. Of all the diverse fields in medicine that I experienced during rotations, pediatrics was the one that stood apart as the most fitting and fulfilling for me. During this time, a family member had a health episode that led us to an endocrinologist, who inspired me with her knowledge, professionalism, and warmth. As a pediatric endocrinologist I treat children and adolescents with chronic conditions, and I develop long-lasting relationships with my patients and their families.

I treat children of all ages, from birth to young adulthood, with hormone disorders. Hormones are chemical signals that travel through the bloodstream and play important roles in growth and development. When they aren't working properly, they can cause a range of health problems. My particular interests are in polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), adrenal disorders, and abnormalities of growth.

My clinical research interests are mainly related to PCOS in adolescents and young adult women. Appropriate diagnosis of this condition can lead to timely guidance, surveillance, and treatment for this group. Most recently, I have studied polycystic ovary morphology using magnetic resonance imaging as well as bone health in patients with PCOS. To improve my skills in clinical research, I'm completing a Masters in Patient Oriented Research at Columbia University Mailman School of Public Health.
