About Daniel H. Hunt, MD, FACS
Dr. Hunt earned his M.D. degree from the Mount Sinai School of Medicine in New York in 1999. He began his general surgery residency at St. Barnabas Medical Center, Livingston, New Jersey in 1999. He spent two years as a Surgical Oncology Fellow at Weill Cornell Medical College studying the effects of APC mutations on colon carcinogenesis. Dr. Hunt completed his general surgery residency at SUNY Downstate Medical Center in 2006. He went on to complete a Minimally Invasive Colorectal Surgery and Rectal Cancer Management Fellowship at Lankenau Medical Center, Wynnewood, PA in 2007. During his time at Lankenau, he gained extensive training in advanced laparoscopy, transanal endoscopic microsurgery, and the multidisciplinary management of rectal cancer under Drs. John and Gerald Marks. Dr. Hunt completed his surgical training with a Colorectal Surgery Residency at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital/Weill Cornell and Columbia campuses under Drs. Jeffrey Milsom and Richard Whelan in 2008. He was recruited back to Lankenau Medical Center on completion of his training and joined the staff at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital/Weill Cornell Medical Center a year later in 2009.
He is a Fellow of the American Society of Colon & Rectal Surgeons and the American College of Surgeons. He is widely published in peer-reviewed journals and has presented his research in abstracts, posters and oral presentations at many professional society meetings.
