About Debbie G Bakes, MD
Debbie G. Bakes, MD, is a ColumbiaDoctor, colorectal surgeon and assistant professor of surgery at Columbia University Medical Center affiliated with NewYork-Presbyterian Hudson Valley Hospital and NewYork-Presbyterian/Columbia University Irving Medical Center. Dr. Bakes is a member of the American Society of Colon and Rectal Surgeons, the American College of Surgeons, and the Hellenic Medical Society of New York. She has published and presented research on subjects such as laparoscopic colon resections, pancreatic cancer, and recovery after colorectal surgery. She won Third Place Podium Award at the New York Society of Colon and Rectal Surgeons' Residents Night and was granted an award for her research done while serving her residency at Stamford Hospital. Dr. Bakes earned her medical degree from Tufts University School of Medicine and completed her residency at Stamford Hospital and Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons, and went on to complete her fellowship at the University of Miami's Jackson Memorial Hospital. She also received additional training in robotics and advanced life support.
