About Dina S. Dass, MD

Dina Dass, MD, is an Assistant Professor of Neurology in the Division of Aging and Dementia at Columbia University Irving Medical Center. She has received certification by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology.


Dr. Dass completed her undergraduate education at Washington University in St. Louis, medical school education at New York University School of Medicine, residency training at Montefiore Medical Center, and fellowship in Behavioral Neurology and Neuropsychiatry at Columbia University Irving Medical Center.


Dr. Dass sees patients with a variety of cognitive, behavioral, and motor impairments due to neurodegenerative disorders, including but not limited to Alzheimer's disease, frontotemporal dementia, Lewy body disease, and other related disorders.


Dr. Dass takes pride in providing outstanding care for patients from a wide array of cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds. She has 10+ years of experience working with patients from diverse communities within New York City. Additionally, Dr. Dass speaks both English and Bengali.


Dr. Dass's research focuses on the role of metabolic syndrome (which includes cardiovascular risk factors such as high blood pressure, high cholesterol, diabetes, and overweight/obesity) in the development of Alzheimer's disease in adults with Down syndrome. She works alongside Joseph H. Lee, DrPH, on the Alzheimer Biomarkers Consortium – Down Syndrome study, which is funded by the National Institute on Aging, National Institute of Child Health and Human Development, and National Institutes of Health.


In addition, Dr. Dass works alongside Karen Bell, MD, to lead clinical trials for Alzheimer's disease through the Alzheimer's Clinical Trials Consortium (ACTC), which is an organization funded by the National Institutes of Health. The ACTC provides infrastructure to accelerate development of interventions for Alzheimer's disease and related disorders.
