About Erica L. Olsen, MD

Dr. Erica Olsen is an Assistant Professor of Emergency Medicine at the Columbia University Medical Center. Dr. Olsen is the Director for Virtual Health Services for the Department of Emergency Medicine at Columbia University Irving Medical Center (CUIMC). Her role includes oversight of Telehealth endeavors throughout the Department of Emergency Medicine West Campus / New York Presbyterian Hospital System: CUIMC Emergency Department, The Allen Hospital, Morgan Stanley Children's Hospital of New York, and Lawrence Hospital. Dr. Olsen joined the full-time Faculty at Columbia University Department of Emergency Medicine with previous Telehealth experience from her time at both the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA Hospital) in Western New York and Erie County Medical Center where Telehealth was utilized for the New York State Department of Corrections. Dr. Olsen currently sits on the Digital Health Governance Committee for the FPO of Columbia University and the New York Presbyterian Hospital Telehealth Steering Committee. Dr. Olsen received her BS from The George Washington University, MS from Georgetown University, MD from SUNY Downstate College of Medicine and completed her residency in Emergency Medicine at Northshore University in Manhasset, NY. She has interest in Emergency Medicine education, previously serving as Medical Student Clerkship Director at Staten Island University Hospital Department of Emergency Medicine- Northwell Health System. Dr. Olsen also has an interest in Quality, Billing and Compliance having worked in these areas during her time at the University of Buffalo Department of Emergency Medicine. Dr. Olsen is excited to work together with the Emergency Department and the NYP Innovations Team to implement Virtual Health technology into the Emergency Department care model.
