He graduated from Columbia University's Program in Physical Therapy in 1994, receiving the Mary E. Callahan Award for Academic and Clinical Excellence in Physical Therapy, and was honored as the commencement speaker for Columbia University's Doctoral Program in Physical Therapy in 2018.
