About Evan P. Trupia, MD

Evan P. Trupia, MD, is an orthopedic surgeon specializing in hand and upper extremity surgery. Dr. Trupia is an expert in advanced operative and non-operative care for issues of the hand and upper extremity, utilizing the latest surgical techniques, including minimally invasive arthroscopy and modern methods to reconstruct or replace arthritic joints. He also cares for fractures and general orthopedic trauma of the upper and lower extremities.


After receiving a BS in Biology from Loyola University, Dr. Trupia graduated from Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons. He completed his residency training in orthopedic surgery at Columbia University Medical Center and his fellowship in surgery of the hand and upper extremity at New York University – Hospital for Joint Diseases. As an artist and former collegiate athlete, Dr. Trupia appreciates that seemingly minor orthopedic injuries can have a tremendous impact on a patient's ability to perform activities of daily life, occupation, and recreation. He therefore individualizes his treatment plans for each patient to maximize function, alleviate pain, and ultimately improve their quality of life.


As an active clinician scientist, Dr. Trupia has a particular interest in developing novel techniques to improve outcomes after upper extremity trauma. His research has been published in several medical journals, including Techniques in Hand and Upper Extremity Surgery and Hand. Dr. Trupia delivers lectures to local and national audiences, including the American Society for Surgery of the Hand, and his medical illustrations have been published in numerous scientific texts and journals.
