Dr. Momen-Heravi is a clinician-scientist at Columbia University Medical Center and a member of the Herbert Irving Comprehensive Cancer Center. Her Laboratory is focused on understanding the interplay between the immune system and tumors to identify actionable molecular targets for head and neck cancer and other solid tumor treatments; examining the role of extracellular vesicles/exosomes in metastasis and mediating cellular cross talk, and hacking this cross talk by genetic engineering; as well as exploring the role of innate immunity in the pathogenesis of periodontal disease and its convergence with diabetes and carcinogenesis. Dr. Momen-Heravi is a clinician-scientist at Columbia University Medical Center and a member of the Herbert Irving Comprehensive Cancer Center. Dr. Momen-Heravi received her DDS in 2010. She completed several years of fundamental research in molecular biology and Immunology at Harvard Medical School, Brigham and Women’s Hospital, and the University of Massachusetts Medical School. She received a Ph.D. degree from the University of Westminster, UK in Molecular Biology/Biotechnology. She also received an MPH degree from Harvard University, with a concentration in quantitative methods and biostatistics. Dr. Momen-Heravi completed a clinical residency and received a Master of Science in periodontics from Columbia University College of Dental Medicine in 2018 and became a board-certified periodontist in 2019. In 2018, she was appointed as Assistant Professor in the Division of Periodontics, Section of Oral, Diagnostic and Rehabilitation Sciences in the College of Dental Medicine. Dr. Momen-Heravi has published more than 70 research articles and book chapters in the areas of basic and translational research and received numerous awards and recognition for her scientific and professional accomplishments.
