About Felipe Teran, M.D., MSCE

Dr. Teran trained in Emergency Medicine and completed a fellowship in Emergency Ultrasonography at Mount Sinai Hospital in New York City. Following his training in NYC, Dr. Teran joined the University of Pennsylvania where he worked as a clinical instructor of emergency medicine at the Perelman School of Medicine; completed the Master of Science in Clinical Epidemiology (MSCE) program; served as the director of research in division of emergency ultrasound; and served as the associate director at the Center for Resuscitation Science. Dr. Teran's translational research focuses on the study of strategies to improve outcomes in cardiac arrest resuscitation, including the use of critical care ultrasound and TEE. As a leading expert in the emerging use of TEE across emergency and critical care environments, Dr. Teran has given over 80 presentations nationally and internationally and has directed training workshops for the Society of Academic Emergency Medicine (SAEM), the Emergency Medicine Resident's Association (EMRA), and the World Interactive Network Focused On Critical UltraSound (WINFOCUS). He is a founder faculty member of the Resuscitative TEE Project, Co-Chair of the Resuscitative TEE Collaborative Registry, and course director of The Resuscitative TEE Workshop, an international course that has trained over 1,000 clinicians on the use of critical care TEE globally.
