About Gabrielle R. Chiaramonte, PhD

Gabrielle Rosa Chiaramonte, Ph.D., is a clinical psychologist specialized in the treatment of posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) other anxiety disorders and depression. Dr. Chiaramonte has training in Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) and has expertise in women's issues and the treatment of psychological symptoms in individuals with medical illnesses such as heart disease, cancer, and auto-immune disorders. Dr. Chiaramonte received her Bachelor's from Fordham University and her Doctorate from Stony Brook University. She completed a one year Clinical Internship at the Payne Whitney Clinic of Weill Cornell Medical College and completed a four year Postdoctoral Fellowship at the Program for Anxiety and Traumatic Stress Studies (PATSS) in the Department of Psychiatry at Weill Cornell Medical College / New York Presbyterian Hospital where she specialized in the treatment of PTSD. She also completed training in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy with Prolonged Exposure for the treatment of PTSD at the University of Pennsylvania's Center for the Treatment and Study of Anxiety.Dr. Chiaramonte serves as Instructor of Psychology in Psychiatry at Weill Cornell Medical College / New York Presbyterian Hospital (NYPH) where she supervises trainees, works with families who have children hospitalized at the NYPH Burn Center, and co-leads workshops on Managing Chronic Illness and Injury.Dr. Chiaramonte has received numerous honors and awards including the Stony Brook University President's Award to a Distinguished Doctoral Student and the Weill Cornell Medical College Faculty Council Award for Excellence in Research. Dr. Chiaramonte is a member of the New York Cognitive Behavioral Association, the Anxiety and Depression Association of America, the Association for Behavioral and Cognitive Therapies, the American Psychological Association, and the American Heart Association. Services she will provide include individual and group psychotherapy including Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR).
