About Gayle Rudofsky Salama, M.D.
Gayle Rudofsky Salama, M.D is a board-certified radiologist specializing in Neuroradiology. She is Director of Spine Imaging and Interventions, Co-director of the CSF Leak Program, and Assistant Professor and Attending at Weill Cornell Medicine-New York Presbyterian Hospital. Dr. Salama interprets a variety of studies, including radiographic, MRI, MRA, CT, and CTA examinations of the brain, head and neck, and spine. Her expertise is in performing fluoroscopic and CT-guided procedures such as lumbar punctures, myelograms, cisternograms, nerve blocks, facet blocks, synovial facet cyst treatment, biopsies, epidural injections, and epidural blood and fibrin patches. Her specific areas of research interest include the diagnosis and minimally-invasive treatment of intracranial hypotension and CSF leaks and degenerative disorders of the spine. She has earned national recognition for her in-depth understanding of CSF leaks and collaborates with CSF leak leaders across the country to ensure patients receive the highest level of care. Dr. Salama has co-authored a myriad of peer-reviewed publications in radiology, neurology, and neurosurgical journals.
Dr. Salama earned her B.A. in Molecular Biology from Princeton University after completing an undergraduate thesis under her advisor, Nobel Laureate Dr. Eric Wieschaus. Dr. Salama then earned her M.D. with Distinction in Radiology Research from Albert Einstein College of Medicine and was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha (AOA) medical honor society. Following an internal medicine internship at Mount Auburn, a teaching hospital of Harvard Medical School, Dr. Salama completed residency training in Radiology at New York-Presbyterian Weill Cornell Medicine, where she was awarded the Distinguished Housestaff Award for Clinical Excellence in 2016. Dr. Salama believes strongly in interdisciplinary collaboration and developed an innovative Weill Cornell Imaging Consultation Service during her residency. She completed her fellowship training in Neuroradiology at Weill Cornell Medical College in 2018.
