About Gennifer J. Greebel, MD

Dr. Gennifer Greebel graduated with honors from the University of Michigan with a degree in economics. She received her medical degree from the SUNY Downstate College of Medicine in Brooklyn, New York and completed a medical internship at Lenox Hill Hospital in New York City. She trained in general Ophthalmology at SUNY Downstate Medical Center. She completed a year of fellowship training in pediatric ophthalmology at the Children's National Medical Center in Washington, D.C. in 2011. She then returned to New York to specialize in pediatric ophthalmology, pediatric cataract surgery, and strabismus in the practice of Lederman and Lederman in Purchase, New York.Dr. Greebel is certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology and is a Fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology. She is an Assistant Attending at the Edward. S. Harkness Eye Institute of Columbia University where she teaches and lectures. She is on the staff of White Plains Medical Center and Stamford Hospital. She is a member of the American Association for Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus, the Greater New York Society for Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus, and the Westchester Ophthalmologic Society. She served on the Young Leadership Committee of the New York State Ophthalmological Society. She is an Assistant Chair for the Scientific Committee of the Costenbader Society. Dr. Greebel has a variety of interests in pediatric ophthalmology and has been published on topics relating to the management and treatment of optic nerve gliomas in Neurofibromatosis Type 1, treatment of corneal infections, and neuro-anatomy and physiology. She has lectured at multiple conferences including the annual Academy of Ophthalmology meeting and the annual meeting of the Costenbader Society. She has participated in multiple teaching and surgical missions to the Dominican Republic with the charitable organization Casa De Luz, formerly known as Island Impact Ministries. In addition to performing strabismus surgery, Dr. Greebel is fellowship trained to perform pediatric cataract surgery with intraocular lens implantation, pediatric anterior segment surgery, lacrimal system surgery, eyelid surgery, as well as other pediatric plastic surgery. Lastly, she has a special interest in decreasing the prevalence of myopia (near-sightedness).
