About Isaac Syrop, MD
Isaac Syrop, MD, FAAPMR, CAQSM is an Assistant Professor of Rehabilitation and Regenerative Medicine at Columbia University Medical Center and an Attending Physician at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital. He specializes in treating patients of all ages, from head to toe, with a wide range of musculoskeletal, sports, and spine injuries. Utilizing state-of-the-art tools such as musculoskeletal ultrasound and regenerative treatments, he employs a non-operative and individualized approach that focuses on return to activity, maximizing function and optimizing quality of life. Dr. Syrop performs a range of cutting-edge and minimally invasive procedures, including platelet rich plasma (PRP), amniotic-derived membrane, prolotherapy, extracorporeal shockwave therapy, percutaneous TENEX tenotomy, sonographic trigger-finger release, genicular COOLIEF ablation, amongst many more ultrasound and fluoroscopy guided injections. Dr. Syrop is double board certified in both Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation (PM&R) and Sports Medicine. He completed his undergraduate education, Magna Cum Laude, at Colgate University and received his MD at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine. He underwent residency training in PM&R at NewYork-Presbyterian, the University Hospital of Columbia and Cornell, and completed an accredited fellowship in Sports Medicine at Stanford University. During his training, Dr. Syrop was granted the Resident Scholarship Award and was appointed Fellowship Class President, both high distinctions at the national level by the American Medical Society of Sports Medicine. Dr. Syrop's research interests include regenerative medicine, musculoskeletal ultrasound and extracorporeal shockwave therapy. He lectures to audiences at both the local and national level and is an author of multiple journal articles, book chapters, newsletters, and academic blogs. His philosophy on being a physician is simple: take care of patients the same way that he would want to be taken care of. With a focus on developing a patient-physician relationship of trust and listening carefully to what is important to the patient, he is able to tailor each treatment plan to the individual and offer them the time that they need and deserve at each visit. Dr. Syrop believes that knowledge empowers and makes it his goal to educate each patient about their condition, treatment options, and lifestyle changes for greater musculoskeletal health and well-being.
