Jennifer Woo Baidal is Director of Pediatric Weight Management and an attending physician in the Division of Pediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology, and Nutrition at Columbia University Medical Center. She is also Assistant Professor of Pediatrics at Columbia University.Dr. Woo Baidal is a practicing pediatric gastroenterologist in the Comprehensive Adolescent Bariatric Surgery Program. Jennifer Woo Baidal is Director of Pediatric Weight Management and an attending physician in the Division of Pediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology, and Nutrition at Columbia University Medical Center. She is also Assistant Professor of Pediatrics at Columbia University.Dr. Woo Baidal is a practicing pediatric gastroenterologist in the Comprehensive Adolescent Bariatric Surgery Program. She is also an ECRIP Scholar (Empire Clinical Research Investigator Program supported by New York State Department of Health) and is helping to develop a new pediatric weight management program for children with obesity. Her research focuses on early life prevention of racial/ethnic and socioeconomic health disparities in obesity and related complications. She has expertise in longitudinal epidemiologic studies and childhood obesity prevention interventions in clinical and community settings. She has completed health services research projects to explore family perceptions of obesity prevention interventions and to identify gaps in practice resources for nutritionists in the Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children (WIC), and is currently planning an evaluation in the WIC-arm of an ongoing multi-sector childhood obesity prevention intervention. She is also working on research to validate noninvasive technologies to detect and grade pediatric nonalcoholic fatty liver disease, which is a common complication of childhood obesity.
