About Jimmy Truong, DO
Dr. Jimmy Truong is a double board-certified physician in emergency and family medicine. He is an Assistant Professor of Emergency Medicine at the Columbia University Irving Medical Center with over 8 years of clinical experience caring for the acutely injured.
Dr. Truong's primary academic interests are in medical education, point-of-care-ultrasonography, quality improvement, and development of emergency department flow processes. He is the Director of Physician Assistant Medical Education overseeing the medical education of all emergency physician assistants, fellows, and students. As the department's scheduler, he oversees the safe, and equitable department staffing across three sites, and assists with the onboarding of new faculty. His accolades include the NY ACEP Unsung Hero Award, the Department's Faculty of the Year for Citizenship, and NY Presbyterian Resident Faculty Teaching Award. Nationally, he has completed the ACEP Teaching Fellowship, is an oral boards examiner for the American Osteopathic Board of Emergency Medicine, and a reviewer for the Visual Journal of Emergency Medicine.
Dr. Truong is a graduate of the New York College of Osteopathic Medicine. He completed his residency in Emergency and Family Medicine at St. Barnabas Hospital in the Bronx. He currently practices in the Adult Emergency Department at Columbia Irving Medical Center and the Allen Hospital.
