About Jorge Monge, MD
Jorge Monge, M.D., is an Assistant Professor of Medicine in the Division of Hematology and Medical Oncology at Weill Cornell Medicine and Assistant Attending Physician at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital.
Dr. Monge received his M.D. from Anahuac University in Mexico City, Mexico. He completed his residency in Internal Medicine at Jackson Memorial Hospital and the University of Miami, and a fellowship in Hematology and Medical Oncology at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital and Weill Cornell Medical College. During this Research Fellowship, Dr. Monge focused on describing the genomic landscape of high-risk multiple myeloma using targeted DNA sequencing as well as defining the role of calcium isotopic composition on multiple myeloma-induced bone disease and overall disease activity.
Dr. Monge's current research focuses on 1) the development of new therapies for plasma cell disorders, including multiple myeloma; 2) harnessing genomic and epigenomic tools to improve the accuracy of diagnosis, prediction of treatment response and overall prognosis of plasma cell disorders; and 3) reducing outcome disparities in patients with hematologic malignancies by addressing barriers to accessing specialized hematologic care and increasing the representation of ethnic and racial minority groups in clinical trials.
