About Joseph G. Jurcic, MD
Dr. Joseph Jurcic is a Professor of Medicine at Columbia University Medical Center and the Director of the Hematologic Malignancies Section within the Division of Hematology/Oncology. He specializes in Medical Oncology and focuses on leukemia, myelodysplastic syndromes, and myeloproliferative disorders. Based in New York, NY, Dr. Jurcic is affiliated with NewYork-Presbyterian/Columbia University Irving Medical Center. He received his M.D. from the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania and completed his training at Barnes-Jewish Hospital and Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. He is board-certified in both Medical Oncology and Hematology.Dr. Jurcic's clinical expertise includes the treatment of acute and chronic leukemias, myeloproliferative neoplasms, and myelodysplastic syndromes. His research interests encompass acute myeloid leukemia, radioimmunotherapy with alpha and beta particle-emitting radioisotopes, monoclonal antibody therapy, developing novel small molecule inhibitors, and molecular monitoring of minimal residual disease. Recognized as one of New York Magazine's "Best Doctors" from 2014 to 2024, he has authored or co-authored over 80 articles and book chapters. He has served as the principal investigator on more than 25 clinical trials. Additionally, Dr. Jurcic lectures at national and international conferences and is the Leukemia Section Editor for The Oncologist.
