About Julia Cooperman, MD, MSED
Dr. Julia Cooperman is a Hospice and Palliative Medicine physician and Assistant Professor of Medicine practicing at Columbia University Irving Medical Center. She earned her Masters in Education in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages from CUNY, Lehman College. She earned her medical degree from New York Medical College. Dr. Cooperman completed training in Internal Medicine at Harvard-affiliated Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center then joined the faculty practice in Hospital Medicine. She was active in multiple medical education roles at Harvard Medical School. She returned to New York to complete fellowship in Hospice and Palliative Medicine at Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. Dr. Cooperman's professional interests focus on medical education, intersections in hospital medicine and palliative care, and health equity and advocacy, especially pertaining to speakers of other languages than English. She is board-certified in Internal Medicine and board eligible in Hospice and Palliative Medicine.
