About Julien Fessler, M.D.

Julien Fessler is an Assistant Professor of Clinical Anesthesiology at Weill Cornell Medicine. He completed his residency at the University of the Antilles in the French West Indies in 2015 and a two-year fellowship in thoracic and lung transplantation anesthesiology at the Foch Hospital – University of Paris XIII. He also pursued further training in the perioperative management of pulmonary hypertension at the Marie Lannelongue Hospital in France. He holds board certification in anesthesia and intensive care medicine from France. His clinical, educational, and research activities are focused on optimizing patient quality of life and outcomes in perioperative medicine. This effort is reflected in the promotion of enhanced recovery after major surgery (especially after lung transplantation) and acute and chronic postoperative pain using regional analgesia techniques and complementary medicine. He is actively engaged in national and international society leadership. Additionally, he coordinates the monthly Perioperative Care for Lung Transplantation Webinar that currently reaches 67 centers in 30 countries.

Furthermore, he is actively involved in global health programs, ranging from teaching anesthesia for vascular surgery in Africa to working in war-torn trauma centers in Yemen with Doctors Without Borders.
