About Marc Goldstein, M.D., F.A.C.S.

Dr. Marc Goldstein is a board-certified urologic surgeon specializing in male infertility. He completed the general surgery portion of his residency at Columbia Presbyterian/ The Presbyterian Hospital and urology at the State University of New York, Downstate Medical Center in New York. After serving as Assistant Professor of Urology and Assistant Attending Surgeon at SUNY Downstate, Dr. Goldstein completed a 2 year fellowship at the Population Council's Center for Biomedical research at The Rockefeller University. He joined Weill Cornell Medicine in 1982, where he soon became Director of the Male Reproductive Medicine and Microsurgery Unit. Currently, Dr. Goldstein serves as Surgeon-in-Chief of Male Reproductive Medicine and Surgery at New York-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medicine.

Dr. Goldstein introduced the no-scalpel vasectomy to the Western world and has performed over 4,000 procedures with the lowest complication and failure rate in peer-reviewed literature; the no-scalpel procedure has since been found to be far more effective and safer than female sterilization. Additionally, Dr. Goldstein pioneered the microsurgical repair of varicoceles, the most common cause of male infertility, performing over 5,000 with the lowest complication and failure rates reported in the peer-reviewed literature. Dr. Goldstein has also developed several microsurgical techniques for the safest and most effective repair of common scrotal disorders (i.e., hydrocele, spermatocele and scrotal cysts) as well as a microsurgically assisted technique for inguinal hernia repair, eliminating the risk of injury to the ducts and blood vessels of the testis and having the lowest failure rate in the peer-reviewed literature.

Marc Goldstein, MD, DSc (hon), FACS is the Matthew P. Hardy Distinguished Professor of Reproductive Medicine and Urology at Weill Cornell Medicine and the Surgeon-in-Chief of Male Reproductive Medicine and Surgery at New York-Presbyterian Hospital/Weill Cornell Medical Center. He is also Senior Scientist with the Population Council's Center for Biomedical Research, located at The Rockefeller University.

Recent Patient Testimonials

"I was a patient of Dr. Goldstein and was extremely happy with the service. Dr. Goldstein is not just a fantastic surgeon he is extremely caring, patient and positive throughout. In my experience i felt as if i were his only patient and he was available for me with any Questions or concerns before, and after the procedure."

"Dr. Goldstein was a pleasure to work with. He was knowledgable and made me feel comfortable throughout the process. His no-scapel vasetcomy technique was really helpful in a quick recovery. Overall highly reccomend Dr. Goldstein."

"My Urologist told me my sperm count is zero and I have no chance of becoming a biological father, before I left my appointment, I asked him one question: 'who is the best fertility doctor in the world?" He said don't waste your time and money, that will not change the facts, but I insisted. He wrote dowen the name and I left. That doctor was Marc Goldstein. Few weeks later, I walked into my appointment with Dr. Goldstein, depressed, broken and hopeless. After the initative examination, Dr. Goldstein offered hope and outlined the microsurgical procedure that could give me a chance of becomng a biological father. About 3 years after I walked into Dr. Goldstein's office, my wife gave birth to our first child. About 3 years later, we had twins. How do you thank a man like that? He transformed our lives, I wake up every day thanking God for crossing paths with Dr. Goldstein."
