About Matthew D. Cantor, MD, FACOG
Matthew D. Cantor, MD, FACOG, is an obstetrician and gynecologist at NewYork-Presbyterian Medical Group Hudson Valley and an assistant clinical professor of obstetrics and gynecology at Columbia University Medical Center. He practices general obstetrics and gynecology with clinical interests in comprehensive prenatal care, family planning services, and minimally invasive gynecologic surgery. He specializes in operative hysteroscopy, colposcopy and cervical conization, and laparoscopy. He also cares for high-risk obstetric patients and supports vaginal birth after C-section. Dr. Cantor earned his bachelor and master of science in physical therapy from Northeastern University in Boston, Massachusetts, and graduated from the Medical School for International Health at Ben-Gurion University in Be'er Sheva, Israel. He completed his internship and residency in obstetrics and gynecology at Hahnemann University Hospital at Drexel University College of Medicine in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, where he was named chief resident of education. During his residency, Dr. Cantor was recognized for his research in HIV, winning the Seymour Stein Memorial OB/GYN Resident Research Award and earning the Birthing Ball Award given to the resident who best incorporates midwifery principles into practice. Dr. Cantor joins NewYork-Presbyterian Medical Group Hudson Valley from New York Medical College, where he served as an assistant clinical professor of obstetrics and gynecology. He previously served as an assistant clinical professor of obstetrics and gynecology at Columbia University and NewYork-Presbyterian at The Allen Hospital from 2013 to 2015. Dr. Cantor is a fellow of the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology and member of the American Association of Gynecologic Laparoscopists. He is board certified in obstetrics and gynecology and affiliated with NewYork-Presbyterian Hudson Valley Hospital.
