About Melana Yuzefpolskaya, MD
Melana Yuzefpolskaya, MD is a cardiologist, specializing in the diagnosis and treatment of patients with advanced heart failure, with a special interest in mechanical circulatory support (MCS) with left ventricular assist devices (LVADs) and heart transplantation. She is board certified in General Cardiology, Echocardiography, Nuclear Cardiology and Advanced Heart Failure and Cardiac Transplantation.
Dr. Yuzefpolskaya is an Associate Professor of Medicine in the Division of Cardiology. She received her medical degree from New York University School of Medicine, completed her Residency in Internal Medicine at NYU, Fellowship in Cardiovascular Diseases at St. Luke's Roosevelt Medical Center and advanced training in advanced heart failure, cardiac assist devices and transplantation at Columbia University Medical Center in New York.
Dr. Yuzefpolskaya has co-authored more than 145 peer-reviewed manuscripts in prestigious journals, including Journal of Heart and Lung Transplantation, Circulation: Heart Failure, European Journal of Heart Failure, Journal of Cardiac Failure and the Journal of the American College of Cardiology. Her work has been presented at multiple national and international meetings including American Heart Association, Heart Failure Society of America, International Society of Heart and Lung Transplantation, and European Mechanical Circulatory Support Summit. She serves as an ad hoc reviewer on multiple journals and has contributed to guidelines on treatment and management of patients with cardiac assist devices.
Dr. Yuzefpolskaya joined the Faculty at the Center for Advanced Cardiac Care in 2011, and was named the Associate Medical Director of the Mechanical Circulatory Support/LVAD Program at New York-Presbyterian/Columbia University Medical Center in 2014. She sees patients in Washington Heights in New York City.
