About Meredith Weiss, MD
Meredith Weiss, M.D. is an Instructor in Psychiatry at Weill Cornell Medicine and an Assistant Attending Psychiatrist at New York-Presbyterian Hospital specializing in Child, Adolescent, and Adult Psychiatry. She treats patients of all ages, from infancy to adulthood, in her private practice. She provides diagnostic evaluations, individual and family therapy and pharmacological treatment. She is board certified in Psychiatry by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology and board eligible in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry.To help achieve optimal results, Dr. Weiss seeks to understand each individual’s or family’s needs and goals and tailors a variety of evidence based therapeutic tools to meet their needs. Dr. Weiss believes in a collaborative and integrative approach to treatment, which includes an assessment of biological, psychological and social/cultural contributors to symptoms and considers a wide range of therapeutic treatments, which may extend beyond traditional psychiatric treatment. In addition to general psychiatry, focusing on therapy alone, medication alone, or a combination of therapy and medicine, Dr. Weiss offers treatment in parent-child relationships, women’s health and family dynamics. Dr. Weiss completed her undergraduate degree in Biochemistry at Stern College for Women, Yeshiva University, where she was awarded the American Institute of Chemist’s Award upon graduation, Summa Cum Laude. She went on to earn her medical degree at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine, Yeshiva University, where she graduated with a Distinction in Research. She then completed her Psychiatry Internship and General Adult Psychiatry Residency at Montefiore Medical Center, where she was awarded the Davidoff Award for medical student teaching and education. She then completed her Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Fellowship at New York-Presbyterian, a combined program of Cornell and Columbia Universities, where she was awarded the Edward J. Sachar Award for Clinical Excellence. Dr. Weiss is currently the Sackler Fellow in Mother-Infant Psychiatry at Weill Cornell Medical College where she is specializing in the evaluation, management and treatment of infants and their families in the Early Childhood Psychiatric Clinic and providing consult/liaison expertise for the medical team and families in the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU). Dr. Weiss is also involved in advanced training at Columbia University’s Parent-Infant Psychotherapy Program. Dr. Weiss welcomes new patients.
