About Michelle Kew, M.D.
Dr. Michelle Kew is an Assistant Attending Orthopedic Surgeon, specializing in sports medicine, knee and shoulder at Hospital for Special Surgery.
As a fellowship-trained sports medicine, knee and shoulder specialist, Dr Kew has experience across a wide variety of sports medicine conditions. Dr. Kew has been a team physician for the New York Giants, the New York Red Bulls, and the Fork Union Military Academy Blue Devils. She is also a Clinical Instructor of Orthopedic Surgery at Weill Cornell Medical College.
Dr. Kew attended the University of Virginia for her undergraduate and medical training. She graduated with highest distinction with a degree in Biology and completed an orthopedic summer research fellowship, as well as several medical mission trips to Honduras. She completed medical school with honors and received a teaching award for her mentorship of new medical students. She continued her education at the University of Virginia and completed her internship and residency, where she was selected both as the junior resident of the year and as chief resident of the year. She joined the Ruth Jackson Orthopaedic Society during residency and was selected to join the Membership Committee. Dr. Kew has used this platform to continue her passion of advancing female and underrepresented minority participation in the field of orthopedic surgery.
Dr. Kew continued her training with a sports medicine and shoulder fellowship at HSS and received the prestigious Warren Kadrmas Award, given to the fellow who has demonstrated the highest level of citizenship and dedication to sports medicine.
After graduating fellowship, Dr. Kew was selected as the Herodicus Traveling Fellow and trained with orthopedic sports medicine and shoulder experts at the University of California-San Francisco and Mayo Clinic-Arizona. She also currently serves on the Enduring Education Committee for the American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine.
Dr. Kew is a reviewer for the American Journal of Sports Medicine and the HSS Journal. She remains very involved in clinical research and has published numerous peer-reviewed publications and book chapters and has presented her work at national and international meetings.
