Mrinali Patel Gupta, MD is a board-certified retina specialist and Assistant Professor of Ophthalmology at Weill Cornell Medical College. Dr. Gupta specializes in the medical and surgical treatment of vitreoretinal diseases, including conditions such as retinal detachment, age-related macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, retinal vein occlusions, and macular diseases. Dr. Gupta graduated summa cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa from Duke University. She received her M.D. from Duke University School of Medicine, where she was elected into the Alpha Omega Alpha academic honor society. She was also a recipient of the prestigious Howard Hughes Medical Institute - National Institutes of Health Research Fellowship, through which she spent one year conducting research studies in age-related macular degeneration at the National Eye Institute of the National Institutes of Health.  Dr. Gupta then completed her Internship Training at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center. She completed Residency Training in Ophthalmology at Harvard Medical School / Mass Eye and Ear Infirmary, followed by Fellowship Training in Vitreoretinal Diseases and Surgery at Weill Cornell Medical College/NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital. During her fellowship, Dr. Gupta was the recipient of the Heed Ophthalmic Foundation Fellowship and the prestigious Ronald G. Michels Fellowship Foundation Award, given to the most outstanding retina fellows in the country.Dr. Gupta is actively engaged in clinical and basic science research in retinal diseases and has published approximately 30 peer-reviewed research articles.  She has authored several textbook chapters and has presented her research at national and international meetings. Dr. Gupta serves as scientific reviewer to several major ophthalmology journals.Dr. Gupta is also actively involved in resident and fellow education and serves as Program Director for the Weill Cornell Medical College Medical Retina Fellowship.Dr. Gupta sees patient both at the main Weill Cornell Medical College/NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital campus (1305 York Avenue) as well as the Lower Manhattan office (156 William Street) and is currently accepting new patients.
