About Paul S. Issack, MD, PhD
Dr. Issack is a fellowship-trained specialist in hip and knee adult reconstructive surgery, spinal surgery and orthopaedic trauma surgery (including fractures of the pelvis and acetabulum). He is board certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery and is a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, the American College of Surgeons and the American Orthopaedic Association. He is a member of the American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons, the North American Spine Society, the Orthopaedic Trauma Association and the Orthopaedic Research Society. He has authored over 50 publications on primary and revision hip and knee replacement, spine surgery and orthopaedic trauma surgery in peer reviewed journals and textbooks and has lectured at scientific meetings locally and around the country.
Dr. Issack completed a medical scientist training program earning M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Biochemistry from the New York University Graduate School of Arts and Science as well as an M.D. degree from the New York University School of Medicine. He then completed an internship in general surgery/orthopaedic surgery and residency training in orthopaedic surgery at the New York University-Hospital for Joint Diseases-Bellevue Hospital Center in New York City. He went on to complete clinical fellowships in Orthopaedic Oncology/Metabolic Bone Diseases, Adult Reconstructive Joint Surgery, Orthopaedic Trauma Surgery and Spine/Scoliosis Surgery, all at the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York City. Dr. Issack is Clinical Associate Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery at Weill Cornell Medical College/Cornell University. He also educates U.S. and international trauma fellows in his role as Director of the AO Trauma Fellowship at New York-Presbyterian/Lower Manhattan Hospital.
