About Pierre F. Saldinger, M.D., FACS, MHA

Pierre F. Saldinger, MD, FACS is the Senior Vice President of Perioperative Services at NewYork-Presbyterian. and Attending physician at NewYork- Presbyterian Queens. He is also a professor of Clinical Surgery at Weill Cornell Medical College.


Dr. Saldinger joins NYP from NewYork-Presbyterian Queens where he serves as Chairman of the Department of Surgery and Surgeon-in-Chief. He is also the Director of the NewYork-Presbyterian surgical quality and safety program and a Professor of Clinical Surgery at Weill Cornell Medical College.


A distinguished and well-published surgeon, he has extensive expertise in the surgical treatment of cancer and benign disorders of the pancreas, liver, gallbladder, bile ducts and surgical quality improvement.


He studied medicine at the University of Basel School of Medicine Switzerland, earned his medical degree from Switzerland's University of Bern School of Medicine and a Master of Health Administration from the Mailman School of Public Health – Columbia University. He completed his residency in General Surgery at Beth Israel Hospital, Harvard Medical School, and clinical fellowship in hepatobiliary surgery at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center.


Dr. Saldinger is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons, a member of the Society of University Surgeons, the Society of Surgical Oncology, and the Society of Surgical Chairs amongst others. He is also a member of the editorial board of the Journal of Gastrointestinal Surgery.
