About Placido A Menezes, MD
Placido Menezes, MD is a board certified orthopedic surgeon specializing in fracture repair and joint replacement. He provides comprehensive treatment and surgical care for orthopedic disorders of the bones, joints, tendons, ligaments, and nerves. Dr. Menezes utilizes minimally invasive techniques and performs all surgical procedures at NewYork-Presbyterian Brooklyn Methodist Hospital's state of the art operating room. Dr. Menezes earned his medical degree from Goa Medical College and completed his general surgery residency at New York Methodist Hospital. He completed his residency training in orthopedic surgery at Brooklyn Jewish Hospital and Kingsbrook Jewish Medical Center.

In my 17th year, dealing with Parkinson's disease, Dr. Menezes is very familiar in treating patients with fragility and balance issues. He offered suggestions, such as possibly trying DBS under a neuron-surgeon, of course. He suggested a cane, and physical therapy as well. As always, Dr. Menezes suggests, but knows that the patient needs time to digest the information, process and act accordingly. Being a mature person himself, Dr. Menezes is never dismissive. He has a back and forth dialogue, and does not talk down to me. I can't say enough about him!
