About Robert C. Post, MD, FACOG

“I have worked with some of my patients from pregnancy through menopause and through the pregnancies of their children.  There’s nothing more satisfying than to see a family grow.” Dr. Robert Post has been one of the New York Metropolitan area’s leading Ob/Gyn physicians for many years, having served as Assistant Director, Director and Chairman of the Ob/Gyn Department of the New York Hospital Medical Center of Queens from 1964 through 2001. A dedicated teacher as well as practitioner, he has also served as Clinical Professor of Ob/Gyn and Assistant Dean of the Weill Cornell Medical College and held a tenured position as Professor of Clinical Ob/Gyn at the New York University School of Medicine.Since Dr. Post became a full time faculty member at Weill Cornell’s department of Ob/Gyn in 2001, he has focused on the areas of work which he finds the most satisfying: seeing patients and teaching.  One area of increasing interest for Dr. Post is menopause, and he continues to work toward developing more effective menopausal treatments tailored to the needs of individual patients.Dr. Post is a dedicated role model and mentor for younger physicians.  He has found the accomplishments and talents of the medical students and residents to be phenomenal.  He is proud to play a leading role in developing future leaders in the field of obstetrics and gynecology.  Among his many awards, Dr. Post is proud to have received Weill Cornell’s “Excellence in Teaching Award,” and the APGO Medical student teaching award. “I tell my students to aim high – to go to the top places where they’ll connect with the top people.  That’s what makes Weill Cornell such a great place.  You work with top people every day.” A graduate of the University of Louisville, KY, Dr. Post received his M.D. from the University of Louisville School of Medicine.  His post-doctoral training includes a rotating internship at Philadelphia General Hospital and a five-year residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at New York University Bellevue Medical Center.  Formerly the Chairman of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the New York Hospital Medical Center of Queens, he is currently Chairman Emeritus of the Ob/Gyn Department of the New York Hospital Medical Center of Queens.  He joined the faculty of Weill Cornell Medical College in 1994.
