About Ryan S. Sultan, MD

Dr. Ryan Sultan is a distinguished psychiatrist specializing in ADHD, anxiety, depression, and substance use disorders. He is an Assistant Professor of Clinical Psychiatry at Columbia University Irving Medical Center and New York State Psychiatric Institute. His research focuses on leveraging electronic databases and epidemiological methods to improve evidence-based treatments for common psychiatric disorders.
Dr. Sultan received his medical training at Emory School of Medicine, followed by residency and fellowship at NewYork-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical College and Columbia University Irving Medical Center. His work has been widely published and presented both nationally and internationally. He has also been featured in major media outlets like Time Magazine and NPR's Morning Edition.


In addition to his academic roles, Dr. Sultan is the director of Integrative Psych, a pioneering mental health practice in Manhattan. This practice emphasizes a holistic approach, combining traditional psychopharmacology with innovative therapies such as ketamine-assisted treatment, cognitive behavioral therapy, and mindfulness practices.


Dr. Sultan’s research includes significant contributions to understanding the treatment patterns and outcomes for youth with ADHD, the effects of FDA guidelines on clozapine monitoring, and the use of natural language processing to improve pharmacologic management of ADHD. He collaborates with renowned experts like Drs. Mark Olfson and Frances Levin.
