Sonia Yris Angell, MD, MPH

Dr. Angell received her medical degree from the University of California San Francisco and completed residency at Brigham Women's Hospital. She has a Diploma in Tropical Medicine and Hygiene from the London School, and a Master's in Public Health from the University of Michigan. She was a Robert Wood Johnson Clinical Scholar. As a public health expert, Dr. Angell works on policies and programs that make places where we live, work and play, healthier for all of us. She is the former director of the California State Department of Public Health and served as California's State Public Health Officer.
