About Tara L. Mathews, PhD

Dr. Tara Mathews is a licensed clinical psychologist with a specialization in pediatrics. She evaluates and treats children, adolescents, and young adults. She provides behavioral and cognitive-behavioral (CBT) treatments for anxiety and behavioral disorders, as well as for chronic medical conditions such as migraine and recurrent abdominal pain. Dr. Mathews also provides training in behavioral management techniques to parents of young children. Additionally, Dr. Mathews has a particular interest in working with patients to address interactions between stress and physical symptoms.Dr. Mathews’ specialized services include: CBT and ERP for anxiety and OCD, relaxation training, behavioral pain management training, sleep training, behavioral management of toileting problems, habit reversal therapy/CBIT for tics. Dr. Mathews earned her Ph.D in School Psychology at Tulane University. She completed clinical internship and postdoctoral fellowship in Pediatric Psychology at The Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. Dr. Mathews joined the Weill Cornell Medicine faculty in 2012.
