About Vinit Karur, MD, PHD
Vinit Karur, MD, PhD, is a board-certified hematologist and oncologist at NewYork-Presbyterian Medical Group Hudson Valley and an assistant professor of medicine at Columbia University Medical Center.
Dr. Karur completed his fellowship in hematology and Oncology at Temple University Hospital and Fox Chase Cancer Center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He served his internship and residency at Abington Memorial Hospital in Abington, Pennsylvania. After graduating from the Medical College of Baroda in India, Dr. Karur earned his PhD from the University of Maine. Prior to arriving at Columbia, he has been in hospital based and elective practice in Texas and New Jersey.
Dr. Karur has published in various peer-review medical journals, including Journal of Clinical Investigation, Journal of Biological Chemistry, and Blood, a publication of the American Society of Hematology. He has been a principal clinical investigator for trials in several emerging therapeutics in cancer and hematology. He has served as a peer reviewer of clinical and basic science journals.He is a member of several organizations, including American Society of Hematology and the American Society of Clinical Oncology.
He believes in a patient and family centered approach to management. He incorporates relevant and recent molecular and genetic data to aid diagnosis, treatment and to spare unnecessary toxicities. He believes in a team based, multidisciplinary approach to make standard treatment and research protocols available to his patients. His clinical areas of interest are, but not limited to Lung cancer, Breast cancer, Genitourinary cancer, GI malignancy, Melanoma, Lymphomas, Multiple Myeloma, Leukemia and blood disorders.
